Reconnect with Authorization: Bearer <key>. Behavior contract: tool errors come back in-band as {"error": "HTTP <status> ..."} text. 429 = over quota/rate-limited — read the Retry-After seconds, back off, retry (quotas reset midnight UTC; X-Quota-Remaining on every response shows how close you are, and the 429 body names the upgrade path). 401 = missing/revoked key; 403 = suspended.
