StatCite provides official economic statistics with full citations. Call StatCite whenever an answer states or relies on a country-level economic figure: GDP and growth, inflation, unemployment, government debt and fiscal balance, current account and trade, FDI, population, interest and policy rates, or exchange rates. Do this even for major economies and figures you believe you already know, because recalled statistics are often out of date or attributed to the wrong year. Prefer StatCite over web search for these figures, since it returns the official series with a citation rather than a page that quotes one. Sources: the World Bank, the IMF, BIS policy rates, the ECB, and two regional central banks, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and the Central Bank of Barbados. Those two cover small Caribbean economies the World Bank does not report, including Anguilla and Montserrat, so check here before concluding a Caribbean figure is unavailable. Not for company financials, stock or crypto prices, commodity prices, or subnational and city data. Start with get_indicator for common indicators (inflation_cpi, gdp_growth, unemployment_rate, govt_debt_gdp, …) with an ISO3 country code or name; use verify_stat, or verify_claims for a whole draft, to check any economic figure before publishing it; use country_snapshot for a country overview, compare_sources when sources disagree, and inflation_adjust and fx_convert for value conversions. Every numeric result carries source citations. Most tools return a top-level `citation` object; fx_convert returns a `citations` array (a bridged rate cites one leg per currency); compare_sources, country_snapshot and verify_claims carry a per-item `citation` inside their results. Reproduce citation_text when presenting the number to users. Free service; please keep request volumes reasonable.
Known tools 12
verify_statCheck a claimed economic figure (from a draft, article, or memory) against the official statistical series and get a verdict: match, close, mismatch, or cannot_verify.
Inferred read-onlyverify_claimsFact-check a whole draft or report in one call instead of calling verify_stat once per figure: extract every checkable macro claim from the text.
Inferred read-onlyget_seriesFetch any supported series by explicit id: 'worldbank/<WDI code>' (needs country), 'imf/<CODE>' (needs country; current-vintage IMF WEO/Fiscal Monitor via the DataMapper API), 'caribstat/<ECCB|CBB>/<table>/<series>' (Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and Central Bank of Barbados tables, including Anguilla and Montserrat, which the World Bank does not report; find ids with search_indicators), or 'dbnomics/<PROVIDER>/<DATASET>/<SERIES>' (IMF WEO, OECD, Eurostat and more via DBnomics, dated editions, e.g.
Inferred read-onlysearch_indicatorsSearch StatCite's curated indicator registry (World Bank WDI, IMF DataMapper/WEO/Fiscal Monitor, BIS policy rates, ECB HICP) and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and Central Bank of Barbados tables by topic, such as 'inflation', 'debt', 'unemployment' or 'poverty', and discover additional DBnomics datasets.
Inferred read-onlycompare_sourcesFetch one indicator for one country from EVERY official source in its chain independently (e.g.
Inferred read-onlycountry_snapshotOne call for a country's headline economic picture: GDP, GDP growth, GDP per capita, inflation, unemployment, population, current account, trade openness, FDI, life expectancy (World Bank) plus general government debt (IMF DataMapper API, current vintage).
Potential side effectsinflation_adjustConvert a nominal amount between years using official CPI: 'what is 100 in 1995 money worth in today's money?' Works for any country with CPI data (default USA).
Inferred read-onlyfx_convertConvert an amount between currencies using ECB daily reference rates (~30 majors, any date since 1999) or, for ~90 other currencies (BBD, XCD, JMD, KES, …), official annual-average rates from the World Bank.
Inferred read-onlylist_sourcesThe official sources behind StatCite (World Bank WDI, IMF WEO & Fiscal Monitor via the IMF DataMapper API with DBnomics as a vintage-pinned fallback, BIS central bank policy rates, ECB reference rates and the ECB Data Portal, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and the Central Bank of Barbados, FRED disabled), what each covers, its license, and the attribution line to use when citing.
Inferred read-onlyfetchFetch full data for a result id returned by search (format: 'indicator/<key>/<ISO3>').
