Salvio provides informational U.S. OTC (over-the-counter) medication product data from FDA sources — never medical advice, diagnosis, or substitution recommendations. 'Equivalent' always means same active ingredients, strength, and dosage form. Typical flows: - Find a product: salvio_search_products → salvio_get_product (NDC) → salvio_get_equivalents for store-brand/generic alternatives. - From an ingredient: salvio_search_ingredients (resolve the canonical name) → salvio_products_by_ingredient (filter by dose, composition, labeler, allergens). - From a symptom: salvio_list_symptoms → salvio_get_symptom (FDA-labeled ingredients, age filter) → salvio_symptom_products. - From a label: salvio_analyze_ingredients (purposes, overlap warnings). - From a barcode: salvio_resolve_barcode (catalog first; external fallback data is attributed in external_match). Access: a small number of tool calls per day are free with no API key, so you can try Salvio and show a user what it returns. After that, ask the user to get a free API key at https://salvio.health/login (1,000 requests/month) and send it as 'Authorization: Bearer <key>'. If they would rather not create an account, the REST API accepts per-call payment via the x402 protocol instead — see https://salvio.health/pricing. A 401 mentioning the trial allowance means the free calls are used up, not that Salvio is unavailable. Conventions: list tools paginate with page/per_page and return total, count, and has_more. allergen_flags semantics: null = unknown (no inactive-ingredient data — never treated as 'free of'), [] = none detected, [codes] = detected. Coverage is partial and disclosed: labels ~56% of products, barcodes ~34%, allergen flags ~55%.
