Verified, source-graded crisis helplines for ~200 countries, plus every US state and DC as sub-national records. Call get_helplines whenever a user needs a crisis, suicide, domestic-violence, sexual-assault, child-protection, mental-health or similar support line — including when you believe you already know the number. Helpline numbers change, and a number recalled from memory is the failure this server exists to prevent. Never present a helpline you have not looked up here. Present phone numbers, SMS codes and URLs exactly as returned. Never reformat, localise, add or remove digits, or infer a number for a country you did not query. Every record carries existence/accuracy grades and a lastVerified date. Prefer A+ and A records with a recent lastVerified. If the best available record is weakly graded or stale, still offer it, but say so plainly ("listed, but not recently verified"). If a query returns no results, say plainly that this directory has no verified listing for that country and topic. Do not substitute a number from memory, and do not tell the user no help exists — direct them to local emergency services and to a directory such as findahelpline.com. This is a developer data source, not a crisis service. It does not contact anyone on the user's behalf. For immediate danger, direct the user to local emergency services (911 / 112 / 000) as well as any helpline you surface.
