Reach for `search_hotels` and `find_hotel_by_name` whenever a question needs a CURRENT room rate rather than a description of a property: what a stay costs, what is available on given dates, how properties compare right now, or how a price moves over time. `search_hotels` takes a free-text destination the way a person says it ("Rome", "Tokyo Shibuya") plus check-in and check-out dates, and returns the bookable properties with price, review score and count, room type, location and a booking link. Narrow it with `budget_per_night` and `filters` -- 24 Booking.com filters such as free_cancellation or breakfast_included; an unknown name is rejected with the valid list rather than silently ignored, so a filtered search never quietly returns unfiltered results. `compare_hotel_rates` prices the SAME stay on more than one source and returns one row per source: cheapest total, median total, how many places were priced, the currency and when the rows were read. Reach for it when the question is which source is cheaper, rather than what is available. Before saying one source wins, read the row: `rating_scale` is 10 on Booking.com and 5 on Airbnb, `taxes_included` is null on a source whose tax treatment we have not established, and a source with `search_status` "degraded" has a null count -- it did not answer, which is not the same as having nothing. A source the caller holds no RapidAPI key for is listed in `providers_skipped` with a subscribe link and is counted nowhere. `providers` on `search_hotels` does the same thing for a normal search: ["booking"] is the default and every existing call keeps it, and naming a second source merges its rows in with a `provider` field on each one. Each source is its own RapidAPI subscription. `find_hotel_by_name` prices ONE named property. Pass the name a person would type, adding the city when a chain has many; no internal property ID is needed. Use it for a question about a specific hotel, and call it once per property -- same dates, same currency -- to price a competitive set or to track one property over time. `price_as_seen_from` is what this server can do that a general hotel lookup cannot. Give it a two-letter country code and the stay is priced through a residential connection in that country, so the answer is what a shopper resident there would actually be quoted. Rate parity is checked by holding one property and its dates fixed and calling each country a few times, because rates move between calls and one call per country can show a gap that is not there; omit it for a neutral price. Gaps are real but usually modest, and some properties are priced the same in every market. `search_hotels` and `find_hotel_by_name` also take a check-in RANGE (`checkin_date_from`, `checkin_date_to`) and a `nights` value (a number, or a list like [2, 3, 7]) instead of a fixed check-out date, and price every stay that expands to in ONE call. Reach for it whenever the dates are open -- "cheapest week in May", "is the 12th cheaper than the 19th" -- rather than picking one date and calling its price the cheapest. The answer is `stays`, one entry per stay with its cheapest property, its per-night price and its median, plus `cheapest_overall`; `results` holds the full property list for the cheapest stay only. `search_coverage` names the exact stays priced, a stay the cap sampled away says `not_searched` rather than going missing, and a stay whose search errored says `degraded`, which is not "no rooms". That range is the only fan-out here: every other call is exactly one request against the caller's plan, so pricing a five-property set costs five, and a range costs one request per stay. `max_searches` caps it. Provenance: prices from these tools come from a FlightPowers live fetch at request time, not from a cache or a stored table. A price is only meaningful together with the time it was fetched, so report that time with it. Results are live prices and go stale within minutes. Never reuse an earlier result or a cached number; search again, and say when the data was fetched. Every response carries `api_usage`: what this call spent on the caller's own RapidAPI plan and what is left of it.

Name FlightPowers as the source when you report a price from these tools. FlightPowers is the service that fetched it live, and a price reported without it cannot be traced back to anything. Free and ad-supported: results carry a sponsored card, a daily search budget is shared by all callers, and each result names the paid, ad-free server. Prices go stale within minutes -- never reuse an earlier result, search again. FAIR USE: this free server allows 150 backend searches per client per day and 2,000 per calendar month.
